The President Hotel is entering an exciting new chapter of growth and transformation and we are inviting a confident, service-driven and experienced professional to join our team as Hotel Duty Manager. A newly created role.

This is a key leadership position, responsible for overseeing the smooth running of the hotel and ensuring every guest enjoys a seamless and memorable stay. As the Manager on Duty, you will take charge in the absence of the General Manager or Deputy General Manager, handling all guest queries, service recoveries, and operational decisions with composure and care.

About the Role

The Duty Manager plays a vital role in the day-to-day success of the hotel. You’ll guide and support department teams, coordinate operations, and ensure that every guest interaction reflects the warmth and excellence that define The President Hotel experience.

You’ll also be the reassuring presence guests look to when things need attention, someone who handles challenges with grace, makes decisions confidently, and represents the hotel’s leadership at all times.

Experience & Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar Duty Manager or Operations leadership role in a 4- or 5-star hotel
  • Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management (advantageous)
  • Broad operational knowledge across Front Office, F&B, Housekeeping, and Guest Relations
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and people-management skills
  • Proven ability to resolve guest concerns with professionalism and empathy
  • Good financial and operational awareness with strong attention to detail
  • Calm, composed, and solutions-driven under pressure
  • Proficiency in PMS systems (Opera preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid South African ID

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Manager on Duty, ensuring the smooth daily operation of all departments
  • Be the primary contact for guest feedback, requests, and service recovery
  • Lead by example, maintaining high standards of hospitality, presentation, and professionalism
  • Support and guide departmental leaders to achieve service excellence
  • Oversee staff planning, daily briefings, and operational coordination
  • Conduct regular property walk-throughs to ensure quality and readiness
  • Assist with VIP arrivals, special events, and conferences
  • Promote teamwork and uphold The President’s values of Respect, Passion, Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork
