CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The purpose of this post is to perform the electrical maintenance, preventative maintenance and services within the section on all NMU campuses in accordance with legislative requirements and NMU policies and procedures.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Perform electrical maintenance and preventative maintenance as well as new electrical installation works on all NMU Campuses.
  • Supervise assistant reporting to this post.
  • Perform all required administration duties.
  • Work independently as well as in a team and perform all stand-by related duties.
    • Ensure that all the maintenance and new work as well as the workshops comply with the Occupation Health and Safety Act and Regulations.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Have excellent knowledge of Large Buildings and Services infrastructure.
  • Have excellent knowledge of the electrical regulations in the Occupation Health and Safety Act.
  • Have good knowledge of supervising personnel.
  • Have good knowledge of reading, writing and calculation of technical data.
  • Have good knowledge of electrical plans & specifications.
  • Ability to divulge technical data as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • N3 qualification or Technical Grade 12
  • Accredited 3 Phase Electrical Trade Certificate.
  • 2 years relevant experience in 3-Phase Electrical Work.
  • Unendorsed Category B driver’s license with own motor vehicle.
  • Medically fit. (To be examined by NMU Occupational clinic)
