Job Title : Back end relief (Senior)

Grade : C2

Reports to : Process Foreman

Department : Production

Main purpose of the role

The position will serve as a relief for the following positions and when not relieving will be on dayshift reporting to the day shift Foreman:

Process Superintendent

• Effective supervision of a shift team
• Meet set daily production targets
• Co-ordinate maintenance on a stop day (direct team members to perform effective maintenance), during season and during off-crop.
• Mentoring and coaching of team members
• Compliance with all safety standards and procedures

Supervisory Pan Boiler

• Operate vacuum pans to convert syrup/molasses into massecuite.
• Supervise centrifugal operations, ensure quality product is being produced and ensure equipment is operated efficiently.
• Start and stop pumps (Vacuum/syrup and molasses) according to operational requirements.
• Operate the syrup clarifier to remove solids in the syrup.
• Produce good quality sugar whilst optimizing steam economy.
• Ensure syrup/molasses tanks and crystallizer levels are within safe operating conditions <70%
• Comply with any lawful instruction given by superintendent or process management.

Process Assistant

• Supervision of operators
• Check factory water systems to ensure that they are operating efficiently
• Operate clarification and evaporator station equipment as determined by circumstance
• Monitor operation in the clarification and evaporator stations
• Logging and reporting defects to Superintendent
• Test scales and off crop work

Qualifications and Experience

• Matric with Maths and Science.  Sugar modules 1-9 or some sugar modules that have been successfully completed at  SASA Training Centre will be an added advantage.
• Experience in boiling A, B and C Sugar would be an advantage.

Personal Qualities

• A positive individual who can work without supervision.
• Must have strong management and people skills.
• Must have strong computer skills.
• OWN TRANSPORT ESSENTIAL!!!
