The CEO will oversee all aspects of the company’s operations in Mozambique, reporting to the Board of Directors. Based in Maputo, the CEO will develop and execute the company’s strategic vision, ensuring sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and market leadership in the agribusiness sector. This role requires a hands-on leader with a proven track record in managing large-scale agricultural operations, navigating complex regulatory environments, and fostering stakeholder relationships in Mozambique.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive business strategy to drive growth, profitability, and market share in Mozambique’s agribusiness sector.

  • Operational Oversight: Manage end-to-end operations, including production, supply chain, logistics, and distribution, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with local regulations.

  • Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and performance monitoring to achieve revenue and profitability targets.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with government authorities, local communities, suppliers, and other key stakeholders to support business objectives.

  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration.

  • Market Expansion: Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities, including product diversification and market penetration strategies.

  • Sustainability and Compliance: Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety standards, promoting sustainable practices aligned with the company’s values.

  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate operational, financial, and regulatory risks in the Mozambican market.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of senior leadership experience in agribusiness or related industries, with at least 5 years in a CEO or equivalent role.

  • Proven track record of driving business growth and operational efficiency in emerging markets, preferably in Southern Africa.

  • Fluency in Portuguese (written and spoken) is essential; proficiency in English is highly desirable.

  • Deep understanding of Mozambique’s agricultural sector, regulatory environment, and market dynamics.

  • Strong financial acumen, with experience managing budgets, P&L, and strategic investments.
