Our client is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Manager to join their team in the food production industry, based in Kommetjie, Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement within the food sector, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to develop and implement effective procurement strategies to ensure the highest quality and cost-efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies tailored to the food production industry, ensuring alignment with the company's business objectives.
  • Manage the procurement process from sourcing to delivery, focusing on quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with food safety standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors, particularly those specializing in food ingredients and packaging.
  • Negotiate terms, prices, and contracts with suppliers to secure the best deals while maintaining quality standards.
  • Monitor market trends and conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and cost-saving opportunities within the food industry.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including food safety regulations.
  • Oversee inventory management and ensure optimal stock levels to meet production demands.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and logistics, to ensure seamless procurement operations.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on procurement performance, market trends, and supplier performance.
  • Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, providing guidance and support to achieve departmental goals.
