Job Description

The Senior Salesforce Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing customised Salesforce solutions to meet the specific needs of the banking and finance sector. This role requires a deep understanding of the Salesforce platform, strong technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate with business stakeholders to deliver efficient and scalable solutions. The successful candidate works within an agile development environment and ensures the quality and integrity of all Salesforce customisations and integrations.

Job Duties

  • Develop and customise Salesforce applications in accordance with business requirements and best practises.
  • Design and implement complex Salesforce solutions, including Apex code, Visualforce pages, Lightning components, and process automation.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather and clarify requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance existing Salesforce applications to improve performance and user experience.
  • Conduct thorough testing of developed solutions, including unit testing and support of user acceptance testing.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and other team members.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies, data protection regulations, and industry standards within all Salesforce developments.
  • Document development processes, configurations, and code to maintain clear records and support future maintenance.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development standards and practises.
  • Integrate Salesforce with other systems and third-party applications as required.
  • Stay up to date with Salesforce platform updates, new features, and industry trends to recommend improvements and innovations.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Salesforce Developer, preferably within the banking or finance industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce development tools, including Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components, and SOQL.
  • Experience with Salesforce integration methodologies such as REST and SOAP APIs.
  • Ability to interpret complex business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understanding of data security, privacy regulations, and compliance requirements relevant to banking and finance.

Education

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Relevant Salesforce certifications, such as Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I and II, are highly desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in Salesforce development, with at least two years in a senior or lead role.
  • Experience working on projects within the banking and finance sector is advantageous.
  • Track record of successfully delivering end-to-end Salesforce solutions in a complex environment.

Knowledge and Skills

  • In-depth understanding of Salesforce architecture, data model, and security model.
  • Proficiency in coding languages such as Apex and JavaScript.
  • Experience with declarative Salesforce tools, including Process Builder, Flow, and Workflow Rules.
  • Strong analytical and design skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good organisational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Salesforce Architect certifications or equivalent advanced credentials.
  • Experience with DevOps tools and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines in Salesforce environments.
  • Knowledge of additional programming languages such as Java or .NET.
  • Experience with data migration and ETL tools.

Working Conditions

  • This role is based in Gauteng, Johannesburg Metro, Johannesburg and requires full-time commitment on a contract basis.
  • The position primarily involves office-based work, with potential for hybrid working arrangements subject to project requirements.
  • Some travel within the region may be necessary to attend meetings or workshops.
  • The role demands the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Occasional extended hours may be required to support critical deployments or resolve urgent issues.
