Our client is seeking a Production Line Leader to join their team. The Production Line Leader is responsible for ensuring that the production line runs smoothly by overseeing the workforce, increasing efficiency, and ensuring that the product quality meets the required standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control the production process of production line, identifying and addressing issues that may impact production.

  • Lead by example, set high standards, and encourage teamwork to achieve company goals.

  • Manage day-to-day operations and employees on specific line, reporting back to the Production Supervisor.

  • Supervise production line activities, ensuring that production targets are met.

  • Evaluate incoming orders and set up the production line accordingly.

  • Optimize workflow and layout to enhance production efficiency and minimize bottlenecks.

  • Identify and implement process improvements on the production line to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Work with the team to develop and execute plans to meet production targets and quality standards.

  • Collaborate with other departments to align production strategies with overall business goals.

  • Analyze production data to make informed decisions and drive strategic improvements.

  • Train and mentor production line staff, ensuring that they have the necessary skills to perform their roles effectively.

  • Provide ongoing encouragement and feedback to team members to improve performance and enhance skills.

  • Actively engage in ongoing training programs and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and stay current with industry standards and best practices. This includes attending workshops, seminars, and training sessions relevant to production processes and leadership.

  • Collaborate with other line leaders and supervisors to optimize production processes and achieve departmental goals.

  • Communicate effectively with team members, team leader, and other departments to coordinate activities and resolve issues.

  • Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss performance, address concerns, and share updates.

  • Promote open communication channels to ensure that all team members are informed and engaged.

  • Conduct Visual inspections & basic checks to ensure that all equipment on the production line is ready and operational at the start of each shift.

  • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the maintenance team promptly to ensure timely repairs.

  • Ensure that all equipment maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with safety regulations and standards to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.

  • Maintain records of equipment maintenance activities and report any recurring issues or trends to the Production Supervisor & Maintenance Manager for further investigation and action.

  • Ensuring team members are aware of basic maintenance practices to help identify issues.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards.

  • Ensure that production line equipment is operating correctly and report any issues or faults as soon as they arise.

  • Promote a safety-first culture and encourage team members to report hazards and unsafe conditions.

  • Stay updated on safety regulations and ensure that all team members are trained on new procedures and standards.

  • Ensure best practices and standard operating procedures are followed at all times to maintain efficiency and productivity.

  • Ensure all aspects of the production process, including machine maintenance, raw material handling, and worker supervision, are maintained at a high-quality standard.

  • Monitor the quality of products and ensure that they meet company standards.

  • Identify and suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.

  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve efficiency to meet or exceed budget targets.

  • Collaborate with the Production Supervisor to develop and implement cost-saving initiatives.

  • Provide input for budget planning and forecasting for the production line.

  • Assist in monitoring and controlling costs related to the production line, including labour, materials, and equipment.

  • Plan and allocate manpower effectively to ensure smooth operation of the production line.

  • Coordinate with the Production Supervisor to determine the necessary resources (e.g., materials, equipment, manpower) needed for production.

  • Monitor and adjust resource allocation as needed to meet production targets and address any unexpected issues.

  • Generate daily production reports and communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) to the Production Supervisor.

  • Identify trends or issues based on production data and report findings to the Production Supervisor for further analysis.

  • Ensure that all production-related documentation, such as work orders and quality control records, are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Collaborate with the Production Supervisor and other line leaders to develop action plans based on production data to improve efficiency and productivity.

Qualifications:

  • High School - Matric Certificate.

  • Diploma In Leadership Management.

  • Minimum 3 Years Experience in Similar Role.

  • Knowledge of production planning and scheduling techniques.

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Understanding of quality control measures and practices to ensure product quality.
