Job Description

The Lead Solutions Architect plays a pivotal role in the design, development, and delivery of technology solutions aligned with business objectives within the banking and finance sector. The incumbent is responsible for leading architectural design activities, ensuring that solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements, and adhere to industry standards and regulatory compliance. This role requires collaboration with multiple stakeholders to drive technical strategy and provide expert guidance throughout the project lifecycle.

Job Duties

  • Lead the design and implementation of architecture frameworks for complex banking and finance systems, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Analyse business requirements and translate them into comprehensive technical solutions that align with organisational goals.
  • Develop and maintain architecture documentation, including blueprints, roadmaps, and standards.
  • Engage with stakeholders to provide expert advice on technology trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure solutions are delivered according to the architectural vision and best practises.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and platforms that enhance the organisation’s technological capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and security policies throughout the solution lifecycle.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to architects, developers, and other technical staff.
  • Drive continuous improvement in architecture processes and standards within the organisation.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities effectively within the contract period.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in architecture or relevant technologies are advantageous.

Education

  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline is essential.
  • TOGAF®, AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Please provide copies of qualifiications and ID)

Experience

  • Minimum of 12+ years designing regulated financial systems; ensures architecture compliance and Genio alignment.
  • Proven experience working within the banking and finance sector or similarly regulated industries.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering large-scale technology solutions and managing complex projects.
  • Experience working in an agile environment is highly desirable.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, such as TOGAF or Zachman.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, cloud computing, integration patterns, and infrastructure technologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and innovatively.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of security standards and regulatory requirements within banking and finance.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Working Conditions

  • The role requires full-time onsite presence in Johannesburg, Gauteng.
  • Typical office hours apply, with occasional extended hours to meet project deadlines or address critical issues.
  • Work is predominantly office-based with potential for some travel within the metro area.
