Job Description

The AI / Machine Learning Architect is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions within the banking and finance sector. This role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable, efficient AI/ML architectures that support the organisation’s strategic objectives. The post-holder leads technical design decisions, oversees system integration, and ensures adherence to best practises and regulatory requirements.

Job Duties

  • Design and develop end-to-end AI and machine learning architectures aligned to business goals and compliance standards.
  • Evaluate, select, and integrate appropriate AI and machine learning frameworks, tools, and platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyse business requirements for AI/ML solutions.
  • Lead the creation of data pipelines and feature engineering processes to support machine learning models.
  • Ensure robust model deployment strategies, including monitoring, optimisation, and maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation covering design, architecture, and operational procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing processes through AI and machine learning techniques.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements relevant to AI and machine learning in banking.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure data security, privacy, and ethical considerations are embedded in all AI/ML solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline. (please provide copies of your qualifications along with a copy of your ID)
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing AI and machine learning solutions, preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
  • Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, deep learning techniques, and statistical modelling.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in AI/ML such as Python, R, or Java.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries including TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, or similar.
  • Knowledge of data engineering concepts, including ETL processes and working with large datasets.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerisation technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Experience with natural language processing, computer vision, or other specialised AI domains.
  • Knowledge of financial services regulations, compliance standards, and risk management related to AI deployments.
  • Experience working in agile development environments.
  • Certification in cloud platforms, data science, or machine learning methodologies.

Knowledge and Skills

  • In-depth understanding of AI and machine learning lifecycle management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and model outcomes.
  • Proficiency in data visualisation tools and techniques.
  • Awareness of ethical considerations and data privacy legislation within the financial sector.

  • Effective time management and organisational skills to meet project deadlines.
