Job Description

The Programme Manager is responsible for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of complex programmes within the banking and finance sector. This role requires proactive management of multiple related projects to ensure alignment with strategic objectives, budgetary controls, risk mitigation, and stakeholder engagement. The individual will lead cross-functional teams, manage resources effectively, and maintain oversight of programme schedules and deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive programme plans that align with business objectives and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate and oversee multiple related projects, ensuring integration and alignment to achieve programme goals.
  • Lead the identification, assessment, and management of risks and issues throughout the programme lifecycle.
  • Manage programme budgets, monitor expenditure, and ensure financial targets are achieved.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to communicate programme progress, manage expectations, and secure necessary resources.
  • Ensure adherence to governance frameworks, regulatory standards, and organisational policies.
  • Report regularly to senior management on programme status, risks, milestones, and outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance programme delivery efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Facilitate change management activities to support successful adoption of programme outcomes.
  • Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and third parties as required to support programme objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • A recognised qualification in project or programme management such as PRINCE2 Practitioner, MSP, or equivalent. (Provide copies of your certifications as well as a copy of your ID)
  • Demonstrable experience managing large-scale programmes within the banking and finance sector.
  • Strong understanding of financial services regulations and compliance standards.

Education

  • A degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology, or a related discipline is preferred.

Experience

  • At least seven years of progressive experience in programme or project management roles.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex programmes on time and within budget.
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and managing cross-functional stakeholders.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in programme management tools and software.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
  • Sound knowledge of risk management and quality assurance practises.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Membership of a recognised professional body such as the Association for Project Management or the Project Management Institute.
  • Experience with Agile frameworks and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with digital transformation initiatives within financial services.
