Our client is looking for an experienced and qualified Farm Manager to oversee operations on a renowned coffee plantation in Tanzania's southern highlands. This role involves managing daily farm activities, leading a diverse team, and ensuring the efficient cultivation and processing of high-quality coffee for local and international markets.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the coffee farm, including planning and delegation.
- Supervise junior agronomists, administrative staff, and mechanics directly.
- Maintain accurate records of stocks, purchases, expenses, and prepare reports for directors.
- Manage cash flow effectively, monitor budgets, and deliver financial reports.
- Ensure timely maintenance of farm vehicles, equipment, buildings, and processing units.
- Plan and schedule irrigation, planting, and harvesting activities.
- Monitor harvest volumes, oversee picker payments, and manage inventory levels.
- Ensure compliance with governmental and company regulations.
- Order stocks and spare parts to maintain minimum levels.
- Stay updated on developments in agricultural science and maintain professional networks.
Key Skills
- Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
- Excellent knowledge of crop cultivation, particularly perennial crops like coffee.
- Proficiency in computer software, especially Excel.
- Ability to manage budgets, cash flows, and produce accurate reports.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on compliance and operational efficiency.
- Effective communication and team management skills.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing farms, vineyards, orchards, or other perennial crops.
- A proven track record of long-term employment in similar roles.
- Over 30 years of age, with a sober and hard-working personality.
