Are you a driven financial planning and compliance professional with experience in governance, finance, ERP systems, and stakeholder engagement? Our client, a world-renowned mining company committed to the responsible production of future-enabling products such as copper, premium iron ore, and crop nutrients, is seeking a Planning and Compliance Specialist to join their dynamic team on a contract basis.

Role Overview

This role is instrumental in supporting the Information Management (IM) Planning and Compliance Manager by driving financial governance, compliance, demand planning, and reporting processes. You will oversee budget planning, manage financial controls, streamline expenditure reporting, and ensure enterprise-wide compliance with financial standards across systems and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage regional IM budget planning and compliance activities.
  • Oversee finance expenditure, reporting cycles, and ERP configuration (SAP).
  • Maintain and monitor capital and operational expenditure governance.
  • Drive cost control initiatives and provide financial insights to IM leadership.
  • Prepare, review, and align forecasts with BU Finance and Global IM.
  • Reconcile resources and recoveries; track timesheets, invoices, and journals.
  • Coordinate annual budgets, reviews, approvals, and system uploads.
  • Ensure Vendor and Supply Chain compliance (contract governance, Ariba, SLAs).
  • Maintain accurate financial documentation, registers, and reporting controls.
  • Serve as a liaison for IM governance, audits, integration, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support the implementation of demand management and change communications.
  • Lead internal control and compliance processes, including ICFR attestation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or relevant Information Management discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualification or equivalent practical experience is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in financial planning, compliance, and ERP (SAP preferred).
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, change management, and communication skills.
  • Experience in a multi-national environment, ideally in mining or a similar sector.
