Our client is looking for a seasoned, commercially savvy VP of Finance to join a high-growth scale-up that’s just secured significant funding and is poised for rapid expansion. With a successful MVP already in market and strong investor backing, the company is now building out its senior leadership team—starting with a world-class finance function. This role is ideal for a qualified CA with deep experience in strategic finance, capital structuring, and scaling financial operations from the ground up.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust financial models to support strategic decisions and capital planning

• Set up scalable financial systems, controls, and reporting structures aligned with rapid growth

• Structure and negotiate complex funding deals (equity, debt, hybrid) in line with business goals

• Partner closely with founders and leadership on business strategy and financial direction

• Lead forecasting, cash flow management, budgeting, and scenario planning

• Prepare investor and board reporting packs with clear insight and data

• Establish financial governance frameworks, risk policies, and compliance processes

• Build and lead a high-performing finance team as the business grows

• Strong commercial acumen and a deep understanding of capital structuring

• Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario planning capabilities

• Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills

• Clear, confident communication—able to present to board and investor level

• Comfortable in fast-paced, evolving environments with minimal structure

• Strategic thinker who can execute hands-on when needed

Qualifications

• Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA)

• 10–15 years of progressive experience in finance leadership roles

• Experience in high-growth, early-stage, or scale-up environments highly desirable

• Demonstrated success in raising capital and structuring innovative funding arrangements

• Strong track record of setting up and managing financial infrastructure from scratch

• Based in or willing to relocate to Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs
