CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

To facilitate the learning process for undergraduate and postgraduate students and contribute to research and engagement activities in the field of Human Physiology at the Nelson Mandela University.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Present lectures, tutorials and practicals in Human Physiology for undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Health Sciences.
  • Assist with curriculum development, module co-ordination and administration of modules presented by the department.
  • Postgraduate supervision.
  • Participate in Departmental and Faculty activities.
  • Perform administrative functions at Departmental and Faculty level.

CORE COMPETENCIES

 
  • Experience of teaching of undergraduate students in Human Physiology.
  • Excellent command of the field of Human Physiology and its latest knowledge and trends.
  • Ability to facilitate learning through blended and technologically-based teaching methods.
  • Promote engaged scholarship programmes.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to function with ease in the University’s richly diverse working environment.
  • Excellent organization and administration skills.
  • Good time-management skills and the ability to perform under pressure.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 
  • An academic qualification with a Masters Degree in Human Physiology.
    • A PhD in Human Physiology and/or Immunology/Genetics/Molecular Biology will be advantageous.
    • A minimum of 2 years relevant Human Physiology teaching experience in the Higher Education sector.
      • Postgraduate supervision experience.
      • Evidence of recent research activity in the form of published articles or conference proceedings.
