Our client , a leader in logistics and express delivery, based in Ethiopia seeks a Non-Executive Director to provide strategic oversight, independent judgment, and expert guidance as the company strengthens its position in Ethiopia’s rapidly evolving logistics market. The successful candidate will contribute to shaping the company’s growth strategy, ensuring operational excellence, and supporting sustainable expansion in a competitive and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:

Strategic Guidance: Offer insights and recommendations to refine the business strategy, focusing on market penetration, operational efficiency, and alignment with global standards.

Governance: Ensure robust corporate governance, risk management, and compliance with Ethiopian regulations and international policies.

Financial Oversight: Review and challenge financial performance, budgets, and investment plans during quarterly meetings to support sustainable profitability.

Stakeholder Engagement: Advise on relationships with key stakeholders, including government bodies, clients (e.g., Ethiopian Airlines, industrial firms), and local communities.

Risk and Opportunity Assessment: Identify emerging risks (e.g., regulatory changes, infrastructure challenges) and opportunities (e.g., e-commerce growth, regional trade hubs) in Ethiopia’s logistics sector.

Board Participation: Attend four quarterly board meetings (in-person or virtual), with preparation and follow-up requiring 5–20 hours monthly, depending on agenda complexity.

Mentorship: Provide occasional guidance to senior management on leadership, innovation, and market adaptation, without executive duties.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, finance, or a related field; advanced degrees (MBA, etc.) or professional certifications (e.g., IoD) are a plus.

Proven senior-level experience (10+ years) in logistics, supply chain, or a related industry, ideally with exposure to emerging markets or Africa.

Prior board-level experience (executive or non-executive) in a multinational or high-growth company.

Understanding of Ethiopia’s economic landscape, including trade, infrastructure, and regulatory frameworks, is highly desirable.

Fluency in English required; Amharic proficiency is advantageous but not essential.
