Site : Maidstone Mill

Job Title : Diffuser Panel Operator

Grade : C1

Reports to : Shift Extraction Supervisor

Department : Production

Main purpose of the job

  • Stopping and starting of process equipments, including steam turbines, cane preparation, dewatering mills, etc;
  • Controls cane throughput and operational performance.
  • Accurately record down-time (stoppages) and slow-crush.
  • Monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for Performance targets in Juice Extraction.
  • Routine monitoring and operation of juice extraction plant;
  • Reports equipment and SHE defects to the Supervisor;
  • Assists with ‘stop day’ maintenance;
  • Carries out housekeeping activities during periods of mill stoppages;
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  • Follows any lawful instruction by supervisor and superiors.
  • Assist Shift Supervisor with permit issuing.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Matric with Maths and Science
  • Previous experience as an Assistant Diffuser Operator will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of cane preparation, sucrose extraction and milling
  • 2 - 3 years relevant experience.

Personal Qualities

  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good work ethic and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work shifts and overtime upon request
