CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
|

Supervise and co-ordinate the actions of support staff to ensure that the sport facilities are maintained, cleaned and prepared thoroughly to optimally support the usage, programmes and events of Madibaz Sport and other internal/external clients
|

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
|
|
The key performance areas for this post are to supervise all actions necessary for maintaining and preparing the outdoor sport facilities at the Nelson Mandela University Gqeberha Campuses for sporting and non-sporting activities and events, with specific attention to the following:
|
- Oversee event preparation and ensure relevant event support
- Staff supervision and administrative duties
- Transportation of goods and employees
- Facility cleaning functions
- Oversee operation and maintenance of irrigation systems
- Sport fields and open space maintenance
- Compliance to safety, health and environmental requirements
- Maintenance of tools, chemicals and equipment

REQUIREMENTS
|
|
To be considered for appointment to this post, candidates must possess a Grade 12 certificate and have a valid driver’s license (code 08 EB). Candidates must have a minimum of two years’ supervisory experience in leading a work team in the Horticulture or Sport Field Maintenance sectors, in which competence has been gained. Candidates must also possess a valid herbicide and pesticide applicator’s certificate.
Further advantages will be relevant certificates in Veld Firefighting, First Aid level 1, relevant Machine operation and knowledge of the technical rules and standards of the sport surface preparation applicable to the area of responsibility.
