Position Summary The Public area attendant is responsible for the rooms to be cleaned to perfection and that all amenities are in place prior to the Guests arrival. He /She will take pride in the Hotel and will endeavour to provide the best guest service. This position requires the room attendant to adhere to any reasonable instruction requested by the supervisor, the Executive Housekeeper and the General Manager. There would be occasions that the incumbent would have to work outside this scope due to operational needs.
Key Responsibilities: • Provide feedback to the supervisor concerning their room sections • Adhere to the basics of cleaning i.e. A. B. C of cleaning a room • Attention to detail • Understand the correct use of chemicals • Responsible for chemicals , equipment and linen • Assist colleagues when you can • Adhere to hotel procedures • Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene • Maintain a professional appearance • Complete allocated rooms per shift to highest standard • Report any maintenance issues to the supervisor • Be aware of bedroom facilities • Be sensitive to guest requirements • Basic knowledge of health and safety • Not to go into departure rooms without authorization
Linen Room: • Follow the company policy and procedure. • Attend work on time manage time and attendance accordingly. • Grooming neat and tidy in a professional manner, name badge, uniform. • To ensure you use the correct PPE at all times. • Responsible for the cleanliness of the entire linen room. • To manage and control the staff entering the linen room- no staff allowed in linen room area. • Responsible for counting dirty linen to be sent to the laundry company for washing. This linen must be counted and checked for defects and variances. • Responsible for receiving clean linen from the laundry company. This linen must be counted and checked for defects and variances. • All variances to be brought to Management attention as soon as it has been picked up. • Staff will be held accountable should variances occur in dirty linen sent to the laundry company. • To ensure the laundry company sends the linen in a clean, neat and well ironed condition. • To maintain the linen room standards. • To ensure guest laundry is done according to care labels and procedure. • Ensure all equipment/ chemicals and supplies are well kept and in order. • To follow DIRTY FOR CLEAN LINEN procedure- should this not be followed strict disciplinary measures will be taken on linen staff. • To assist and help in all areas in the housekeeping department. • You will be required to clean rooms- clean public areas and work in other areas of housekeeping. • You will be required to work shifts, work PH and weekends.
Store Duties • Issues requests to staff and replenish the Floor storerooms accordingly. • Signs all storeroom keys and keeps keys safe- no staff allowed to enter storerooms without authorization. • Not allowed to hand over keys to any staff. Sign back keys to security after your shift has ended. • Prepares the daily stock and store related reports. • Prepares report on monthly amenities consumption to Executive Housekeeper. • Monitors guest room items quality expiry dates. • Monitor PAR levels for all housekeeping and laundry items to ensure proper levels. • Responsible for storage of housekeeping and laundry operational stock. • Responsible for the day-to-day check on the storage facilities for upkeep and hygiene. • Responsible to verify all goods arrived as per the agreed purchase, delivery note and agreed quantity has been received. • Refuse acceptance of damaged, unacceptable, or incorrect items. • Ensure cleanliness of all areas, keeping storage areas clean & tidy and in strict compliance with hygiene regulations. • Maintaining and cleaning staff always lift landing • Ensure chemical storeroom is well kept, neat and tidy. • To ensure all chemicals are provided for all staff. • Ensure the chemical unit is working and in good condition. • Ensure the quantity requested and the quantity issued always matches. • Keeps storeroom neat and in good order. • Ensure all vacuums are working- report vacuums • Ensure all equipment is working and in good order. • Check all storerooms on lift landings and floors. Daily • Check room attendants’ trolleys and report daily. • Check all fire Cabinets and trap doors on all floors. • Adheres to the rules and regulations of the hotel and its department. Assumes duties as may be assigned by management. • To act with honesty and integrity and complete all tasks given to you • To work as a Housekeeping General worker- should the need arise, you would be requested to work in other areas to assist and help in the department
Qualifications And Education Requirements: • Grade 12
