Matriarch is seeking a skilled and proactive Asset Technician to join our solar operations team in Cape Town. This role is focused on ensuring the optimal performance of our clients’ solar systems through regular site inspections, preventative and corrective maintenance, and effective fault resolution.

Purpose of the Role:
The Asset Technician will be responsible for maintaining our clients' solar systems through planned and corrective maintenance measures to ensure optimal performance. You will play a key role in upholding both client interests and business objectives while consistently pursuing excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance tasks as directed by Asset Managers
- Conduct installation inspections and report on findings
- Maintain accurate records of time spent on site and update fault logs
- Provide detailed inspection and maintenance reports as required
- Maintain asset registers and fault logs
- Produce site inspection reports
- Complete maintenance tasks within a reasonable time frame, focusing on addressing the root cause of faults
- Ensure preventative maintenance tasks are completed thoroughly, with accurate information provided to Asset Managers for further action if necessary
- Ensure reports are accurate and submitted in a timely manner
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Background
- Degree or Diploma: Relevant qualification in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy), or a related technical field
Experience
- Previous experience in a technical maintenance role, preferably within the renewable energy sector, particularly solar energy
- Proven experience in performing corrective and preventive maintenance on solar energy systems
- Experience in conducting site inspections and reporting on maintenance activities
Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of solar energy systems, including photovoltaic (PV) technology and maintenance procedures
- Proficiency in executing technical maintenance tasks and resolving faults
- Excellent organisational skills to manage time efficiently and maintain accurate records
- Ability to keep up-to-date records and effectively report on maintenance activities
- Ability to diagnose and address maintenance issues promptly
- Skill in identifying the root cause of faults and implementing effective solutions
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with Asset Managers and other stakeholders
- Ability to provide clear and accurate reports on maintenance tasks and site inspections
- High level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy in fault logs, maintenance reports, and inspection findings
