CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The core purpose of this academic post is to facilitate and administer the learning and teaching for students in modules presented by Nelson Mandela University at the undergraduate level, to do research, contribute to engagement, and be involved in the core functions of the University. Lecture the following modules within the Mechanical, Mechatronic or any other relevant Departments: Mechanotechnology, Design, Dynamics and Controls and Renewable Energy Systems.

KEYPERFORMANCEAREAS

  • Facilitate the learning processes and outcomes of the Departments.
  • Perform academic engagement.
  • Perform curriculum and course administration.
  • Applicants will be required to register for and complete a Doctoral qualification in Mechanical, Mechatronic, or related Engineering and complete in a maximum period of 4 years.

CORECOMPETENCIES

  • In-depth knowledge of the theory and application in the relevant disciplines related to Mechanical and/or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • Ability to facilitate learning at the undergraduate level.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Have the potential to contribute to the creation of knowledge by publishing research and involvement in relevant engagement activities.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team.

REQUIREMENTS

  • MEng /MSc in Engineering (Mechanical or Mechatronics). Meet the requirement of the nGAP programme with an average of at least 70% for their Masters degree
  • Two years relevant experience in a Higher Education Environment.
  • Intention to continue research and PhD in Engineering.
  • The nGAP appointees must be a South African citizen or permanent resident in South Africa.
  • Candidates should have ECSA professional engineering registration (candidates eligible to register and apply within 12 months after the appointment with be considered).
  • The successful candidate must be registered for or qualify to register for a Doctoral qualification in Mechanical, Mechatronic or related Engineering field.
  • A research record of peer-reviewed publications will be a recommendation.
