CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
The purpose of the post is to facilitate and administer the learning process for students in theoretical and practical modules as presented by the Nelson Mandela University Nursing Science Department at under- and post-graduate level, to participate in research, to contribute to the academic and community engagement as well as being involved in the core functions of the University. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
1. Sound knowledge of the theory and application in relevant disciplines in Nursing, 2. Specialty in the following areas will be an advantage: Emergency Nursing or Nephrology Nursing or Child Nursing or Mental Health Nursing or Advanced Primary Care 3. Experience in facilitation of teaching and learning activities and practices at under- and/or post- graduate academic and clinical programs. 4. Contribute to curriculum development and implementation at under- and/or post-graduate level. 5. Contribute to research within Nursing Science. 6. Create knowledge through research and publications. 7. Establish a national reputation in own field of expertise through collaboration, consultation and involvement in policy processes or projects. 8. Research supervision, and involvement in faculty research projects, IPE involvement.
CORE COMPETENCIES 1. Application of diverse teaching and learning methodologies for under- and post-graduate programs. 2. Experience in facilitation of teaching and learning at under- and/or post-graduate levels. 3. Knowledge of research theory and applications in Nursing Science. 4. Knowledge of curriculum development and implementation at under- and/or post-graduate levels. 5. Co-supervising post-graduate research candidates (Masters and Honour’s). 6. Contribute to the development and implementation of Short Learning Programs or other Continuous Development Programs. 7. Contribute to seminars and/or other research outputs.
REQUIREMENTS Education Masters degree in Nursing Science. Emergency Nursing or Trauma Nursing or Critical Care Nursing or Advanced General Nursing or Nephrology Nursing or Child Care Nursing or Oncology Nursing would be an added advantage. Registration with SANC as a registered nurse. Registration with SANC as a Nurse Educator. Registration with SANC as an assessor and moderator. Experience and skills Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience in General Nursing. Minimum of two years clinical work experience. Evidence of research and research supervision is required.
