MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

  • Lead and manage all shift operations and maintenance personnel-maintain discipline, communication, motivation and safety.
  • Manage and control essential site services (water, effluent discharge, compressed air and electricity).
  • Coordinate boiler cleaning activities, outages and inspections.
  • Assist boiler maintenance foreman with shutdown tasks and key area projects (hits).
  • Carry out daily inspections and develop defect reports for maintenance team.
  • Reporting incidents, accidents and near-miss situations in the standard format.

  • Ensuring compliance to all ISO policies and procedures.

  • Undertake safety, health and environmental initiatives with shift team members.

  • Ensure coal deliveries are offloaded within stipulated times.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL QUALITIES

  • Matric, with Boiler operations modules (ITC) or equivalent. Trade test will be advantageous.

  • Minimum 1-2 years boiler operations experience (Training will be provided).

  • Hardworking, ability to work in a team with manufacturing process and finished good superintendents.

  • Good time keeping, good work ethic and principles.

  • Must be flexible in order to meet the challenges in a demanding environment.

  • A good communicator with a strong, confident and assertive personality, able to influence relevant processes at all levels and persuade others to make contributions.

  • To be approachable and have the ability to inspire and motivate others well.

  • Assertive, excellent planning and time management skills.

  • Passion and drive for safety and ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Computer literacy.

  • Sound interpersonal and people management skills.

  • A practical hands-on approach with the ability to analyse, problem solve and take corrective action.
