CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

The purpose of this post is to perform plumbing maintenance work and services to all NMU buildings in accordance with the Health and Safety Act and NMU policies and procedures.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • To ensure all works requisitions and job cards are completed on a daily basis.
  • To ensure that all plumbing maintenance work and services are completed on a daily basis.
  • To ensure that preventative maintenance is carried out through regular inspections of buildings.
  • To keep record and control over tools and machines in respect of plumbing services.
  • To work independently and complete all stand-by related work.
  • Seeks continuous improvement of products, machines and equipment.

 

 

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Have excellent knowledge of NMU Buildings and Services infrastructure.
  • Have knowledge of regulations within the Health and Safety Act relating to chemical gases, machinery, ladders, etc.
  • Have knowledge of supervising personnel.
  • Have knowledge of reading, writing and calculation of technical data.
  • Have good maintenance related skills.
  • Have good knowledge of building plans & specifications.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A N2 Qualification or Technical Grade 12.
  • An Accredited Plumbing Trade Certificate
  • 2 years relevant experience in Plumbing.
  • A valid Category B driver’s license is required.
