Junior Sous Chef (Monthly Paid) As our Junior Sous Chef, you willensure our guests receive world-class service, award-winning cuisine, memorable experiences at our conference & events, room service, bars, restaurants and lounge. Part of your role will be to assist in managing the kitchen, ensuring that the culinary service standards are met. Together with the Sous Chef, you will manage staff’s performance and conduct, contribute to the planning of food menu offerings including costings, estimate food consumption & requisition or purchase food, ensure kitchen stations are prepped, stocked and run efficiently during service and monitor and maintain the guest experience by ensuring that every one of our guests receives personalised attention and experiences every time. Aside from this, you will lead and manage the kitchen team, ensuring the smooth operation of the pastry kitchen and maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, and presentation across all kitchen areas. You will oversee inventory, ordering supplies, and managing the pastry department’s budget efficiently. You will provide mentorship, guidance, and training for all kitchen staff to foster their growth. Acting as second-in-command in the absence of the Sous Chef, you will also ensure all food handling and cleanliness procedures comply with health and safety regulations and uphold our reputation for exceptional food through consistency, presentation, and creativity. You have a Matric Certificate and a Culinary Diploma (Advantageous) with 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role in a busy, up-market establishment with the ability to work various shifts. You will bring your strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure smooth teamwork. Your decisiveness, accuracy, and commitment to quality will deliver excellent results, while your expertise in delegating, directing, and planning will keep projects on track and efficient.
