Primary Purpose:

Support the commercial operations of DRA Ghana across Ghana and West Africa by driving strategic business development, delivering measurable value and sustainable growth. Collaborate closely with the Ghana General Manager to execute stakeholder engagement initiatives and expand market presence within West Africa.

Main functions include:

  • Manage key local partnerships
  • Identify, develop, and maintain new business opportunities and relationships within Ghana and West Africa region
  • Develop and execute market entry and growth strategies
  • Operational management support of DRA Ghana’s project portfolio
  • Represent DRA Ghana at industry events, conferences, forums and any other public platforms
  • Integrate business processes and ensure accurate and timely reporting within DRA structures
  • Assist DRA Ghana General Manager (GM) with office management, employee engagement, clients and compliance bodies
  • Execute tasks assigned by GM or Vice President-Project Development
  • Support project execution in Ghana and other West Africa countries when required
  • Drive engagement excellence with clients

Key Performance Areas (Responsibilities):

  • New Business Development
  • Responsible for new market development through Country business plan development and securing of new opportunities in Ghana and West Africa.
  • Responsible for business growth through strategic market planning.
  • Responsible for nurturing and growing quality clients
  • Responsible for sustaining DRA Ghana’s presence in Ghana and West Africa.
  • Development of SIB and short-term pipelines of opportunities in Ghana and West Africa
  • Development of 2–5-year pipeline within Ghana and other West Africa Countries.
  • Ensuring Country legislation and localisation requirements are met.
  • Prospect for new leads and/or clients by networking and other means of generating interest from potential clients.
  • Identify, qualify, and convert quality leads into bid opportunities.
  • Develop country-specific strategies for new ventures and market entry.
  • Linking the Country business strategy to the EMEA business development strategy.
  • Create country business plans and align with regional strategy and yearly roadmap objectives.
  • Ensure aftermarket opportunities and obligations are industrialized.
  • Continuous assessment of market conditions and sales opportunities.

Client Relationship Building:

  • Research and build relationships with new clients.
  • Identify the decision makers and influencers within the client organisation.
  • Maintain and augment existing as well as new client relationships to ensure business opportunities.
  • Network with other industry professionals

Business Development Planning:

  • Develop Ghana and West Africa business development strategy.
  • Develop Ghana and West Africa financial objectives.
  • Develop Ghana and West Africa business plan.
  • Manage budget and allocate funds appropriately.
  • Management and Research
  • Monitor and analyse Ghana and West Africa business and economic trends.
  • Monitor competitor movement in Ghana and West Africa.
  • Submit regular progress reports as required.
  • Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within DRA’s CRM system (Salesforce).

Operational Management:

  • Ongoing management of DRA’s portfolio and resources in Ghana and West Africa
  • Support day to day management of DRA Ghana office activities
  • Ensure that all required regulatory and business compliances and meet.
  • Highlight business risk and mitigation strategies.
  • Support DRA Ghana localization and CSI strategies and compliance
  • Support DRA Ghana GM to develop relationship and meet MINCOM, Chamber of Mines, Ministry of Land and Natural resources, BOG requirements at all times

Qualifications:

  • Engineering qualification (essential)
  • Business Management or an equivalent tertiary qualification (advantageous)
  • MBA (advantageous)

Memberships:

  • Country specific as required (advantageous)

Experience:

  • Proven track record of experience in Ghana (essential)
  • Proven track record of experience in West Africa (advantageous)
  • Worked within Engineering/Mining projects environment (essential)
  • Proven track record demonstrating business acumen (advantageous)

Knowledge Areas:

  • Strong understanding of how Country business operates (essential)
  • Solid understanding of budgeting and financial planning (advantageous)
  • Entrepreneurial with excellent verbal communication and presentation skills (essential)
  • Should be acknowledged and respected within the mining industry (essential)
  • Demonstrate experience, in depth knowledge and understanding of the Country industry (essential)
