Role Purpose
The Senior Estimator – SMPP is responsible for preparing accurate, detailed, and competitive cost estimates for Structural Steel, Mechanical, Platework, and Piping (SMPP) projects. This role involves consolidating technical inputs, validating productivity and resource norms, and supporting project teams with cost planning, execution methodology, and risk analysis. The position ensures that client maintains competitiveness, profitability, and compliance with client requirements in mining, oil & gas, and industrial projects across Ghana and the West African region.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil/Structural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline.
- Professional certifications in Estimation/Cost Engineering and Project Management (e.g., AACE, RICS, PMI-SP) is an advantage.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in cost estimation, with at least 5 years in SMPP-related projects (mining, oil & gas, or heavy industrial).
- Proven experience in developing large-scale multi-disciplinary cost estimates for EPC/EPCM projects.
- Familiarity with West African mining and oil & gas industries preferred.
- Strong command of estimation software (e.g., Candy CCS, Primavera, Excel advanced costing models).
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.
- Advanced knowledge of productivity rates, manhour calculations, and resource planning.
- Strong analytical and numerical ability with attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities to guide estimation teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
