Roles and Responsibilities
1. Drawing Production
- Assist Engineers by producing drawings for various projects in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Prepare road layouts, longitudinal sections, road setting-out details, road details, intersection grading plans, road signs, strip maps/activity schedules, and stormwater layouts and details.
- Ensure drawing registers and issue slips are maintained and filed in accordance with project requirements.
- Ensure all drawings are filed electronically (and hard copies where required).
- Maintain and develop libraries for road and stormwater projects, including parametrically constrained 3D models, to ensure consistency and efficient deployment of symbols and designs.
2. Quantities
- Set up drawings to assist with the calculation of quantities.
- Calculate project quantities where required.
3. Quality and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Ensure drawings are delivered accurately and within agreed timeframes.
- Comply with the Company's Quality Management System.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety requirements in the workplace.
4. Client Satisfaction
- Maintain professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure all drawings meet client standards and expectations.
5. Effective Project Management
- Adhere to project budgets and allocated hours.
- Accurately record project time, submit timesheets timeously, and update resource schedules weekly.
- Contribute towards achieving departmental utilisation targets.
- Coordinate the generation and management of multidisciplinary digital models throughout the project lifecycle.
Education and Experience
Education
- Grade 12 (Matric) with relevant draughting/CAD course certificates.
- Diploma in Multi-Disciplinary Drawing Office Practice (advantageous).
Experience
- Minimum of 5–6 years' draughting experience within a Transport engineering environment.
- Experience with SANRAL and Western Cape Government roads and stormwater projects (advantageous).
- 3D Modelling experience (advantageous).
- BIM Modeller and BIM Coordinator experience (advantageous).
Skills and Knowledge
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfraWorks, Excel, and GIS.
- Knowledge of transport and stormwater design and drafting principles.
- Experience managing large datasets within CAD software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and document management skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and under pressure.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
- Willingness to learn, develop technical capabilities, and continuously improve.
