BID MANAGER – Cape Town, Western Cape


R60 000 – R75 000 CTC per month (Negotiable based on experience and qualifications)

We are seeking an experienced Bid Manager with strong Bid Management and Proposal Management expertise to take ownership of a newly established bid function within a leading Professional Services environment.

This is a senior-level Bid Management role with full responsibility for the end-to-end tendering and proposal process, including bid strategy, bid governance and submission delivery across high-value, complex opportunities.

You will lead a small Bid Team, partner with senior stakeholders and play a key role in improving win rates, strengthening bid capability as well as driving successful Tender Management outcomes across the business.

This role is ideal for an experienced Bid Manager who combines hands-on Bid Management delivery with strategic input into Bid Strategy, Proposal Development and competitive positioning.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end bid and proposal process, ensuring high-quality, compliant and compelling submissions
  • Drive bid/no-bid decision-making and opportunity qualification
  • Develop bid strategy, win themes, value propositions and competitive positioning
  • Manage complex, high-value tenders and proposals
  • Oversee bid planning, governance, timelines, reviews and submission processes
  • Ensure alignment with client requirements and evaluation criteria
  • Facilitate kick-offs, review sessions and lessons learned processes
  • Track bid performance, reporting and pipeline activity
  • Lead, mentor and develop the bid team, driving quality and continuous improvement
  • Improve bid systems, tools, templates and best-practice processes
  • Collaborate with technical teams, business development and senior stakeholders
  • Support the adoption of AI-enabled and digital bid management tools

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, Project Management, Supply Chain or related field
  • 8–10 years’ experience in bid management, proposal management or tendering
  • Proven leadership experience within bid or proposal teams
  • Strong exposure to public sector, donor-funded or international procurement environments
  • Track record of successful delivery of complex, high-value bids
  • Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office capability (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure and tight deadlines

Advantageous experience:

  • Exposure to AI-enabled bid processes
  • SharePoint experience
  • Proposal or copywriting experience
  • Background in consulting, engineering, infrastructure, professional services or development sectors
