CORE PURPOSE OF JOB •To lead and manage the university’s financial aid operations, ensuring effective administration of National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), bursaries, scholarships, and student financial support services in alignment with institutional policies and national regulations. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS •Oversee the administration of NSFAS and donor-funded bursaries. •Develop and implement financial aid policies and procedures. •Ensure compliance with NSFAS guidelines and reporting requirements. •Manage financial aid staff and coordinate training and development. •Liaise with internal departments, donors, and external stakeholders. •Monitor fund disbursement, reconciliation, and student account allocations. CORE COMPETENCIES •A sound knowledge of financial principles. •Strong knowledge of NSFAS policies and higher education funding models. •A thorough knowledge of financial assistance rules, policies, and criteria. •Proficiency in ITS or similar student information systems. •Proven leadership and team management experience. •Computer literacy •Good written and verbal communication skills •Excellent people management skills •Strategic thinking and problem-solving. •Advanced Excel and data analysis skills. •High level of integrity and ethical conduct. •Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. •Commitment to student success and equity in education.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
In order to be considered for appointment to this post, the candidate must have • BComm accounting, or a financial degree with accounting as a major. (Postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage). • At least a minimum of three to five years’ experience in a student accounts environment, financial aid, or student funding administration, with two years’ experience at the supervisory level.
