WORKSHOP MANAGER

The Workshop Manager is a key member of the Management team accountable for the maintenance of the fleet, and will be responsible for the following, not all inclusive.

Job Summary:

  • Manage the daily activities of the workshop such as job allocation and job flow in the workshop including schedule and labour allocation.
  • Co-ordination of resources (operational and human) schedules and activities to effectively manage the maintenance of the fleet.
  • Manage stores stock levels and the purchase of replacement parts and equipment, in accordance with consignment agreements.
  • Ensure daily perpetual stock takes are done by staff.
  • Assist with quoting, materials purchasing and quality checks.
  • Ensure correct documentation is kept for all work done in the workshop, including job cards etc.
  • Ensure checks are done between Job card, Part requisitions, Syspro processing before invoicing.
  • Manage the workshop team, including their performance, training and development.
  • Develop and maintain a sound relationship with operations staff and suppliers.
  • Ensure daily maintenance and updates of the workshop application to optimize functionality and efficiency.
  • Manage the fleet maintenance programme in line with technical standards.
  • Do spot-check inspections on vehicles to see that repairs, maintenance and breakdown prevention is performed to set standards.
  • Ensure compliance of the workshop with all Health and Safety legislation and standards
  • Analyse breakdown, service and incident trends, suggest and implement corrective actions and improvements.
  • Reporting to the Group Technical Manager on workshop performance, product related deviations, and all technical related actions, tasks and deadlines.
  • Signing off supplier reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Maintaining of small tool/asset register.

Requirement:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Computer literacy – Excel, Word, Microsoft Office
  • Read and write in Afrikaans and English, with strong documentation and good communication skills
  • Valid Code 08 driver’s license (applicants without a driver’s license will not be considered)
  • Suitable industry related qualification, with 4 – 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of Suppliers Agreements and Reconciliation
  • Must have strong leadership qualities and have the ability to manage Company Policies
  • High level of technical expertise. Must be able to support the foreman and assist with diagnostics
  • Excellent Human Relations and team player, with a confident and pro-active approach to anticipate issues and requirements
  • Physically fit, high attention to detail
  • No criminal record
