BID MANAGER – Cape Town, Western Cape

Our client, a leading Global consulting and advisory firm, is seeking an experienced Bid Manager to join their high-performing bid function.

This is a newly created leadership opportunity within an established, high-performing bid team, where you will work closely with an experienced Head of Bid, Operations & Compliance.

You will play a key role in overseeing complex, high-value public sector, donor-funded and international bids across the climate, natural resources, infrastructure, water, energy, cities and urban development, and transport sectors.

This role offers the opportunity to strengthen bid quality, governance, systems and continuous improvement within a collaborative and purpose-driven consulting environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Bid Team.
  • Oversee the bid pipeline, ensuring effective planning, resource allocation and delivery.
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of strategically important bids and proposals.
  • Review submissions to ensure quality, compliance and consistency.
  • Develop bid strategies, win themes and value propositions for key opportunities.
  • Monitor bid progress, identify risks and proactively resolve challenges.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of Bid Coordinators.
  • Drive continuous improvement across bid governance, systems and processes.
  • Support the implementation of AI-enabled bid management tools.
  • Collaborate with technical specialists, consortium partners and senior stakeholders.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or National Diploma in Business, Commerce, Project Management, Supply Chain or a related discipline.
  • 8–10 years' experience in Bid Management, Proposal Management or Tender Management.
  • 3-5 Years proven leadership experience within a bid or proposal environment.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, high-value bids and tenders.
  • Strong understanding of public sector, donor-funded and international procurement processes.
  • Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.

Highly Advantageous Experience

  • Consulting, engineering, infrastructure, environmental or development advisory sectors.
  • Exposure to bids across sectors such as infrastructure, water, energy, transport, climate or natural resources.
  • Consortium bids involving international partners.
  • SharePoint and AI-enabled bid management tools.
  • Proposal writing or technical editing.
