Job Description: Head Guide and Lodge Manager

Location:

Northern Cape, Kgalagadi District, Kathu

Job Type:

Permanent, Full-Time hours

Primary Industry:

Job Duties:

  • Managing lodge operations including guest services, housekeeping, and maintenance
  • Leading and coordinating safari excursions and nature walks
  • Ensuring guest satisfaction and resolving any issues that may arise
  • Managing staff, providing training, and overseeing performance
  • Handling reservations, check-ins, and check-outs
  • Maintaining lodge facilities and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Developing and implementing marketing strategies to attract guests

Required Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong leadership abilities and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Knowledge of wildlife, local attractions, and conservation practises
  • Valid driver's licence

Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • A degree or diploma in Hospitality Management or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in lodge management and guiding
  • Knowledge of reservation systems and basic accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional certifications in guiding or hospitality management
  • Experience working in remote or wilderness lodge settings
  • Knowledge of local languages or cultural practises
  • Experience in developing and implementing eco-tourism initiatives

Working Conditions:
