The Opportunity

DRA is seeking an experienced Senior Proposals Engineer with a strong technical foundation in process engineering and mineral processing to support the development of technically robust, commercially competitive proposals for mining and mineral processing projects.

This role requires an engineer with a comprehensive understanding of process plant design, engineering studies, and project execution, who can translate technical requirements into practical, cost-effective solutions.

Based within the Business Development Department, you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to produce comprehensive proposals that meet client requirements and advance DRA's new business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and coordinate technical and commercial proposals, tenders, pre-qualifications, and expressions of interest for mining and mineral processing projects.
• Interpret client specifications, technical requirements, scopes of work, and tender documentation.
• Apply process engineering expertise to evaluate proposed solutions and ensure technical compliance.
• Review conceptual process designs, process flow diagrams, mass and energy balances, equipment specifications, and related engineering deliverables.
• Coordinate technical inputs from process, mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, and other engineering disciplines.
• Contribute to the development of technical scopes, engineering methodologies, execution strategies, and project schedules.
• Evaluate process design options, engineering trade-offs, and potential technical risks.
• Collaborate with engineering, estimating, and procurement teams to develop competitive capital and operating cost estimates.
• Review engineering studies, process design criteria, and plant configurations to ensure alignment with project requirements.
• Coordinate inputs from equipment suppliers, subcontractors, and specialist engineering partners.
• Identify technical, commercial, contractual, and execution risks associated with tender submissions.
• Prepare technical narratives, methodologies, clarifications, and supporting proposal documentation.
• Participate in tender reviews, client clarification meetings, and technical discussions.
• Support the evaluation of commercial conditions and contract requirements.
• Ensure proposals meet internal quality standards, approval requirements, and submission deadlines.
• Support the handover of successful proposals to engineering, study, and project execution teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Engineering – essential.
• Qualifications in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering are particularly advantageous.
• 4–7 years’ experience in engineering proposals, tenders, or bid preparation.
• 5–10 years’ experience in industry-related project implementation and engineering studies.
• Strong technical experience in process engineering, mineral processing, or process plant design.
• Experience with mining and mineral processing projects, ideally spanning feasibility studies, detailed engineering, and project execution.
• Exposure to multidisciplinary engineering environments and the development of technical and commercial project proposals.

Technical Knowledge & Capabilities

• Expertise in process plant design and mineral processing technologies.
• Competence in conceptual engineering, feasibility studies, and detailed design.
• Familiarity with process design criteria, process flow diagrams, and mass and energy balances.
• Knowledge of equipment sizing, selection, and technical specifications.
• Experience in process evaluation, trade-off studies, and technical optimisation.
• Ability to develop capital and operating cost estimates.
• Skill in technical risk assessment and commercial evaluation.
• Understanding of engineering project execution and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Awareness of procurement, construction, and contractual requirements.
