Systems Analyst – Strong Technical Background - Banking experience is a must
Location: Johannesburg — On-site
Contract duration: 12 months
We are seeking a technically strong Systems Analyst to translate business requirements into detailed system specifications and support the delivery of banking technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse business requirements and assess their impact on applications, interfaces and data flows.
- Produce technical specifications, system models, interface specifications and data mappings.
- Analyse APIs, integrations and system dependencies to define suitable solutions.
- Use SQL to investigate data, validate requirements and troubleshoot system issues.
- Collaborate with business analysts, developers, architects and testers throughout delivery.
- Support system integration testing, UAT, defect resolution and production implementation.
- Ensure solutions align with security, architecture and governance requirements.
- Maintain clear technical documentation and traceability between requirements and delivered functionality.
Required Experience and Skills
- Proven Systems Analysis experience with a strong technical background.
- Experience within banking or financial services.
- Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational databases.
- Solid understanding of APIs, web services and integration concepts, including REST, SOAP and messaging.
- Ability to read and interpret code, application logs and technical documentation.
- Experience producing system specifications, UML diagrams, sequence diagrams and data mappings.
- Understanding of application architecture, the software development lifecycle and Agile delivery.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and stakeholder communication skills.
- Availability to work on-site in Johannesburg for the 12-month contract.
Qualifications
A relevant qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent practical experience.

- Previous Bank experience.
- Background in software development or technical support.
- Exposure to Java, .NET, microservices, cloud platforms or banking integration environments.
