Sustainability Graduate Intern

(12 Month Fixed-Term Contract - Monthly Paid)

We are recruiting a Sustainability Graduate Intern to support the Group Sustainability Specialist in implementing, monitoring and reporting on the Group’s ‘living green’ sustainability strategy across Head Office and the hotels, while gaining structured, practical workplace experience in environmental management.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Capture and report environmental data accurately and on time
  2. Prepare water reports for review and submission
  3. Gather evidence for Fair Trade Tourism recertification
  4. Arrange hazardous waste and recycling collections and maintain records
  5. Support Green Teams, training, community events and environmental communication
  6. Maintain sustainability and garden records and calendar

Minimum Requirements:

  • A completed Diploma or Degree (NQF 6–7) in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability, Conservation or a related field, from an accredited South African educational institution
  • No prior work experience required
  • South African citizen
  • Satisfactory criminal record, subject to assessment of nature, severity, relevance, and recency of any offence

Key Competencies:

  • MS 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) – intermediate level
  • Data capture and basic data analysis, e.g. tracking water, energy and waste
  •  Report on writing and presentation skills
  • Basic knowledge of South African environmental legislation, e.g. the National Environmental Management Act and the Waste Act
  • An understanding of sustainability concepts, e.g. carbon footprint and waste separation
  • Good written and spoken communication in English
