Job Description

The role of FOH / Service Manager / Mixologist combines leadership of front-of-house operations with expert mixology skills to deliver an exceptional guest experience within a hospitality setting. The successful candidate manages daily service activities, oversees customer relations, and ensures the smooth running of the service team. This position requires a strong focus on quality, guest satisfaction, and operational efficiency, alongside the creation and delivery of innovative beverage offerings.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate front-of-house operations to provide outstanding service standards and maintain a welcoming environment for guests.
  • Manage and mentor service staff, ensuring adherence to service protocols and promoting continuous professional development.
  • Oversee guest relations, promptly resolving any service issues or complaints to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Design, prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including cocktails, ensuring consistency, quality, and creativity in all mixology offerings.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of beverage trends, sourcing ingredients and equipment to support innovative drink menus.
  • Monitor inventory levels of bar supplies and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely procurement while controlling costs.
  • Implement and maintain health, safety and hygiene standards in compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including kitchen and events teams, to coordinate service delivery and enhance guest experience.
  • Prepare and manage daily reports on sales, stock levels and staff performance.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of marketing initiatives aimed at promoting the bar and front-of-house services.

Required Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification in hospitality management, service management or mixology from a recognised institution.
  • Certification in responsible alcohol service and health and safety compliance.

Education

  • Completion of secondary education is essential.
  • Further education in hospitality or mixology is highly desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a front-of-house supervisory or management role within the hospitality industry.
  • Proven experience as a mixologist, demonstrating creativity and technical skill in cocktail preparation.
  • Experience managing teams and delivering excellent customer service under pressure.
  • Must have worked in remote luxury 5 star lodge prior.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of beverage products, cocktail recipes and bar operations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
  • Organisational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in stock control and inventory management.
  • Competent in using point-of-sale systems and hospitality management software.
  • Commitment to upholding health and safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional certifications in advanced mixology or beverage management.
  • Experience working within the travel, leisure or tourism sectors.
  • Knowledge of local and international beverage trends and customer preferences.
  • Multilingual abilities are advantageous.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time role requiring flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as necessary. (6weeks on 2 weeks off)
  • Work takes place primarily in a bar and restaurant environment within the travel and leisure sector.
  • Role involves standing for extended periods and handling manual tasks associated with beverage preparation and service.
  • Exposure to busy and sometimes high-pressure hospitality settings.
  • Compliance with local health and safety regulations is mandatory.
