The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for managing daily transport and logistics operations, ensuring fleet availability, route efficiency, regulatory compliance, and excellent customer service. The role oversees drivers, assistants, and fleet resources while maintaining safety, operational performance, and cost control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage fleet operations, vehicle maintenance, servicing schedules, COFs, inspections, tracking systems, and compliance requirements.
  • Supervise drivers and assistants, ensuring adherence to company policies, working hours, safety standards, training requirements, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Monitor distribution costs, overtime, route efficiency, vehicle utilization, and staffing levels.
  • Support route planning and resource allocation to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Investigate and report incidents, accidents, non-conformances, and maintain operational records and control registers.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, hygiene, and hazardous waste transport regulations.
  • Handle customer complaints and queries professionally while driving continuous service improvements.
  • Conduct operational audits and identify opportunities for cost savings and improved efficiency.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric/Grade 12.
  • Transport, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Operations Management qualification advantageous.
  • Valid Code B Driver's Licence (Code 10/C1 advantageous).
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office.

Experience Required

  • 3-5 years' experience in transport, logistics, or distribution.
  • Minimum 3 years in a supervisory, management, or team leader role.
  • Experience managing teams of 20+ staff.
  • Proven experience in driver management, route planning, fleet utilization, and customer service.
