Project Manager – Networks and Zscaler

Our client a global tech firm is seeking a Project Manager (Networks and Zscaler) to join their team in Sandton on a contractor basis. They offer stability, growth, attractive rates and a great working environment.

Role Overview

The Project Manager – Networks and Zscaler will lead the planning, coordination, delivery, and governance of network infrastructure and cloud security projects, with a strong focus on Zscaler deployments, migrations, upgrades, and operational readiness. This role acts as the central point of coordination between business stakeholders, network engineering, security, vendors, and service providers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, within budget, and aligned to business and security objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of network and Zscaler-related projects, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure.
• Manage Zscaler implementation activities such as ZIA, ZPA, client connector deployment, policy rollout, traffic forwarding, testing, and migration planning.
• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, RAID logs, status reports, communication plans, and governance documentation.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams including network engineers, security architects, infrastructure teams, desktop support, service desk, vendors, and business stakeholders.
• Track milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, and change requests, escalating where required to keep delivery on track.
• Facilitate technical and business readiness activities, including test planning, user communications, deployment waves, change management, training, and support handover.
• Ensure network and security solutions comply with internal standards, cyber security policies, architectural principles, and operational support requirements.
• Manage vendor and third-party delivery performance, ensuring deliverables, timelines, documentation, and support obligations are met.
• Prepare and present project updates to steering committees, sponsors, technical teams, and senior stakeholders.
• Support post-implementation reviews and continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and recommending process enhancements.
• Proven experience managing IT infrastructure, network, cyber security, or cloud security projects.
• Experience delivering projects involving enterprise networks, firewalls, proxies, secure web gateways, VPN, SD-WAN, routing, switching, DNS, and remote access technologies.
• Practical exposure to Zscaler solutions such as Zscaler Internet Access, Zscaler Private Access, Zscaler Client Connector, policy migration, authentication integration, and user rollout.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies, including waterfall, agile, hybrid delivery, governance, financial tracking, and release management.
• Ability to work with technical teams to understand dependencies, constraints, risks, implementation plans, and operational impacts.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, facilitation, negotiation, and reporting skills.
• Strong planning, organisation, documentation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience using project management and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Project, Planner, Jira, Azure DevOps, SharePoint, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
• Project management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, CAPM, AgilePM, Scrum Master, or equivalent.
• ITIL Foundation or similar service management certification.
• Zscaler training, certification, or demonstrable implementation experience.
• Experience in enterprise-scale migrations, security transformation programmes, network modernisation, or zero trust initiatives.
