GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Camp Manager is responsible for assisting with the overall management and smooth operation of the lodge or camp. This includes overseeing guest experience, staff supervision, facility maintenance, logistics, and coordination of daily activities. The Camp Manager ensures high standards of hospitality, operational efficiency, and adherence to company policies and safety regulations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

-         Oversee all camp operations, including housekeeping, kitchen, maintenance, guest relations, and activities.

-         Ensure exceptional guest service and handle any guest concerns or special requests professionally.

-         Supervise and support all staff, ensuring teamwork, discipline, and high performance.

-         Monitor and manage inventory levels, procurement needs, and supplies.

-         Ensure cleanliness, safety, and functionality of all camp facilities and equipment.

-         Maintain accurate records including attendance, incidents, bookings, and supplies.

-         Prepare daily or weekly operational reports and communicate with head office.

-         Enforce company policies, health & safety regulations, and environmental practices.

-         Assist in staff training, development, and welfare.

-         Coordinate logistics for staff, guests, and deliveries.

-         Represent the lodge professionally to stakeholders, suppliers, and visitors.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

-         Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism, or related field (preferred).

-          

-         First Aid and Emergency Response Training (advantageous).

-          

-         Basic HR, Admin, or Finance training is an added benefit.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in camp/lodge/hotel management or a similar role.

Experience working in remote or wilderness environments.

Understanding of eco-tourism, sustainability, and cultural sensitivity.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

-         Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

-         Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

-         Organized, proactive, and calm under pressure.

-         Able to manage diverse teams and multitask effectively.

-         Competent with basic computer systems (Microsoft Office, emails, booking software).

-         Guest-centric approach with high attention to detail.
