The Food Service Ambassador (Fixed-Term Contract) is responsible for providing friendly, efficient, and professional food and beverage service within Splash Café. This role includes preparing the café for service, welcoming and assisting guests, taking and serving food and beverage orders, maintaining cleanliness and presentation standards, and ensuring a positive dining experience from arrival to departure. The Food Service Ambassador is expected to deliver personalised guest service, promote menu offerings, support sales initiatives, and contribute to achieving operational and revenue targets while upholding the highest standards of hospitality and food safety.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Review daily bookings, guest volumes, and operational requirements to prepare for each shift.
  2. Set up the café, including seating areas, counters, displays, and any special arrangements, to ensure service readiness.
  3. Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming café environment before, during, and after service.
  4. Prepare and stock all service areas, ensuring food, beverages, equipment, and supplies are readily available.
  5. Understand and accommodate guest preferences, dietary requirements, and special requests.
  6. Deliver friendly and efficient service by welcoming guests, taking orders, and serving food and beverages.
  7. Accurately process payments and provide a positive farewell to enhance the guest experience.
  8. Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, health, and sanitation standards at all times.
  9. Promote menu items and specials to increase sales and enhance the guest experience.
  10. Support team members and contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of the café.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric Required (National Senior Certificate NQF 4)
  • Previous experience in a food service, retail, hospitality, café, restaurant, or customer service environment (preferred).
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and peak trading periods.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices.
  • Customer-focused with a friendly and professional approach.
  • Satisfactory criminal record, subject to assessment of the nature, severity, relevance, and recency of any offence.
