The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving beverages in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner while creating a welcoming café atmosphere for guests. The role ensures that beverage preparation and service standards are consistently met, beverage stations are well-stocked and maintained, and that every guest receives personalised service that enhances their overall Splash Café experience.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Provide friendly and attentive service, responding promptly to guest requests and creating a positive café experience.
  2. Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages in accordance with established recipes, quality standards, and service procedures.
  3. Maintain a clean, organised, and fully stocked beverage station throughout each shift.
  4. Ensure all beverage equipment, utensils, and glassware are clean, operational, and stored correctly.
  5. Set up beverage preparation areas and service stations according to operational requirements and standard operating procedures.
  6. Monitor stock levels, assist with stock counts, and report shortages or wastage to management.
  7. Follow all food safety, hygiene, health, and sanitation standards to ensure a safe environment for guests and colleagues.
  8. Promote café beverages and menu items to enhance the guest experience and contribute to sales targets.
  9. Support the wider café team during busy periods to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Matric (National Senior Certificate, NQF 4).
  • Minimum of 6 to 12 months' experience in a café, coffee shop, restaurant, hospitality, or food service environment.
  • Basic beverage preparation experience, including hot and cold drinks.
  • Good customer service and communication skills.
  • Basic numeracy skills and experience handling cash or point-of-sale (POS) transactions.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Satisfactory criminal record, subject to assessment of the nature, severity, relevance, and recency of any offence.
