About the Role

The ATM Custodian is responsible for ensuring the availability of fully operational Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) for customers. This includes the custody and balancing of ATM cash, processing of deposits, and handling ATM computer reports. The role demands a thorough understanding of the risks associated with ATM custody, implementing effective controls, and upholding the highest standards of integrity and ethics.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure ATM terminals are accurately stocked with cash and stationery.
• Maintain close communication with the control centre to promptly address equipment issues.
• Identify and resolve potential faults to prevent equipment malfunction in a timely manner.

ATM Cash and Replenishment

• Manage ATM cash in accordance with established procedures; ensure ATM bags or canisters are securely sealed.
• Balance cash at designated intervals, adding or topping up as required.
• Verify that correct processes are followed and accurate details are entered into the ATM system.
• Obtain and retain a slip for every replenishment transaction.
• Report any service interruptions or changes promptly.
• Safeguard ATM cash at all times to prevent unnecessary or avoidable loss.

Deposit and Purge Bin Management

• Accurately and promptly clear cash deposits, where applicable.
• Refer irregular deposits or those requiring further scrutiny to the Branch Security Officer (BSO) or designated officer immediately.
• Ensure timely delivery of deposits to the bank or G4S Cash Centre.

Reports and Reconciliation

• Address ATM reports listed on the duty schedule promptly, following prescribed instructions.
• Control and deliver ATM slips to the cash centre as required.
• Perform daily cash reconciliation on the same day, adhering to established procedures.

Company Firearms

• Comply with Firearm and Ammunition Control work instructions at all times.
• Ensure any firearm repairs are recorded in the Firearms Repair Register by the appointed responsible person at the branch.
• Complete annual firearms training as scheduled.
• Maintain firearms in a serviceable condition at all times.

Health and Safety

• Contribute to the design, development, review, implementation, and monitoring of safety plans at branch, regional, and national levels annually.
• Participate actively in company safety forums, including meetings and safety talks.
• Report all safety incidents promptly to the appropriate personnel.
• Engage in discussions regarding safety incidents at all organisational levels.
• Follow up on actions assigned through safety meetings, committees, representatives, or management.
• Attend safety education and refresher programmes as required.
• Adhere strictly to workplace safety policies and procedures.
• Distribute safety information as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Matric certificate with Mathematics.
• A minimum of two years’ experience in operating and maintaining ATMs.
• Certification in ATM Custodian course.
• Certificate of Competence.
• Computer literacy.
• Teller experience is advantageous.
