Job Description
The Fx Modernisation Programme Manager takes overall responsibility for the planning, execution, and delivery of foreign exchange modernisation initiatives within a banking and finance environment. This role coordinates cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with strategic objectives, manages stakeholder engagement, and ensures that programme outcomes are delivered on time, within scope, and budget. The role requires a thorough understanding of foreign exchange markets, banking technology, and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate drives continuous improvement and innovation to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of foreign exchange operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Governance and reporting. Establish and operate the programme governance framework, including meeting cadence, decision and escalation paths, and terms of reference for each forum. Produce weekly workstream status reporting and a monthly executive dashboard covering progress against milestones, blockers, risks, dependencies, and decisions required — each decision stated with owner and cost of delay.
Risk, issue, and dependency management. Maintain the programme RAID log with named owners, mitigations, and review dates. Manage cross-workstream and third-party dependencies (including technology vendors and regulatory approvals), escalating per agreed time-bound triggers rather than at discretion.
Delivery coordination. Coordinate cross-functional delivery teams across business, technology, compliance, and operations; ensure prioritisation and delivery of development tasks follow the Client's established delivery standards and methodology; track and chase actions to closure between governance cycles.
Stakeholder engagement. Maintain the stakeholder map and engagement plan; ensure workstream owners, executive sponsors, and impacted country/client teams receive accurate, timely communication of progress and required actions.
Required Qualifications
- Relevant professional qualification in project or programme management, such as PRINCE2 Practitioner, MSP (Managing Successful Programmes), or equivalent.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Information Technology or a related field.
Experience
- Proven experience in foreign exchange operations or related financial products is essential.
- Demonstrated success in managing cross-functional teams and third-party vendors.
- Experience working within regulated environments and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Knowledge and Skills
- Comprehensive understanding of foreign exchange markets, trading platforms, and associated regulatory frameworks.
- Strong programme management skills, including risk management, budget control, and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to influence at all organisational levels.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex financial and technical information.
- Proficiency in programme management software and tools.
