At The President Hotel, our Maintenance team plays a vital role in keeping our 349-room property operating safely, efficiently and to the standards our guests expect.
As we continue our journey toward luxury, we’re looking for an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Technician with a minimum of 2 to 3 years’ relevant experience. This is an all-round technical role requiring practical experience across plumbing, basic electrical work, HVAC, general repairs and preventative maintenance.

Minimum Requirements
• Matric / High School Certificate or equivalent
• Relevant technical or vocational training in Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, HVAC, Building Maintenance or a related trade
• Minimum 2 to 3 years’ general maintenance or technical services experience
• Previous experience within a hotel, resort or large commercial property environment highly advantageous
• Hands-on experience in plumbing, basic electrical work, HVAC maintenance and minor carpentry repairs
• Experience with planned and preventative maintenance (PPM)
• Strong practical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Ability to carry out minor repairs to plumbing, lighting, fixtures, fittings, doors, locks and furniture
• Basic understanding of air-conditioning and ventilation systems
• Familiarity with health, safety and maintenance procedures
• Experience using a CMMS such as OMNI or similar advantageous
• Ability to complete job cards and maintenance records accurately
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Professional and guest-focused when working in occupied rooms and public areas
• Ability to work shifts, weekends and public holidays and respond to emergency maintenance requirements
• Valid South African ID
• A fully updated CV with relevant qualifications and contactable reference details is essential
What You’ll Be Doing
• Carrying out day-to-day maintenance and repairs throughout the hotel
• Responding promptly to maintenance requests from Housekeeping, Front Office, F&B and other operational departments
• Diagnosing and repairing general faults across plumbing, basic electrical, HVAC, mechanical and carpentry systems
• Completing planned and preventative maintenance according to the hotel’s maintenance programme
• Repairing plumbing fixtures, taps, toilets, drainage systems and attending to leaks
• Replacing and testing lighting, plugs, sockets and basic electrical components within your authorised scope
• Carrying out basic maintenance on air-conditioning and ventilation systems
• Repairing doors, locks, handles, hinges, furniture and other guest-facing fixtures
• Responding quickly to urgent breakdowns, leaks and technical faults to minimise disruption to guests
• Escalating specialist electrical, refrigeration or mechanical faults when required
• Completing job cards, maintenance logs and OMNI tasks accurately
• Maintaining safe, clean and organised work areas and following all health and safety procedures
• Supporting the wider Maintenance team during breakdowns, emergencies and high-demand operational periods
