From guest rooms and public areas to restaurants, kitchens, conference facilities and back-of-house operations, our electrical infrastructure is essential to delivering the experience our guests expect.
As we continue our journey toward luxury, we’re looking for a skilled and experienced Hotel Electrician with a recognised Red Seal Trade Test to join our Maintenance Department and take responsibility for the inspection, maintenance, fault-finding and repair of electrical systems across the property.

Minimum Requirements
• Recognised Electrician Trade Test / Red Seal qualification – essential and non-negotiable
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a qualified Electrician
• Previous electrical maintenance experience within a hotel, hospitality, hospital, retail, commercial property or other large-scale facility highly advantageous
• Experience working within a busy, high-demand operational environment
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical installations, distribution systems, lighting, sockets, appliances and electrical equipment
• Excellent electrical fault-finding, diagnostic and repair capabilities
• Strong knowledge of SANS standards, statutory electrical requirements and occupational health and safety regulations
• Experience with preventative and planned electrical maintenance programmes
• Good understanding of electrical compliance inspections and associated documentation
• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, technical drawings and equipment manuals
• Sound understanding of lock-out/tag-out procedures and safe electrical working practices
• Experience working with electrical testing and diagnostic equipment
• Understanding of energy management and electrical efficiency within a large facility advantageous
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the wider Maintenance team
• Ability to guide and support junior technicians and apprentices where required
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• Ability to respond effectively to urgent electrical breakdowns and operational requirements
• Ability to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and attend to emergency call-outs when required
• Professional, reliable and accountable approach to work
• Valid South African ID
• A fully updated CV with Red Seal/Trade Test details and contactable reference details is essential
What You’ll Be Doing
• Conducting inspections, maintenance, fault-finding and repairs across the hotel’s electrical systems and infrastructure
• Diagnosing and resolving electrical faults efficiently to minimise operational downtime and disruption to guests
• Maintaining electrical systems across 349 guest rooms, apartments and suites, as well as public areas, restaurants, kitchens, conference facilities and back-of-house areas
• Inspecting and maintaining distribution boards, lighting systems, sockets, circuits, appliances and electrical equipment
• Carrying out planned and preventative electrical maintenance according to the hotel’s maintenance programme
• Identifying potential electrical problems before they result in equipment failure or operational disruption
• Responding promptly to electrical breakdowns, guest-room faults and urgent operational maintenance requirements
• Ensuring all electrical work is completed in accordance with SANS standards, statutory requirements and hotel safety procedures
• Maintaining strict adherence to electrical isolation and lock-out/tag-out procedures
• Conducting appropriate electrical testing and ensuring installations and repairs are safe before returning equipment or systems to operation
• Supporting electrical compliance inspections and maintaining the required technical and safety documentation
• Monitoring electrical systems and identifying opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce unnecessary consumption
• Providing electrical support for conferences, functions, events and other high-volume hotel operations
• Working closely with the broader Maintenance team and operational departments to ensure technical issues are resolved efficiently
• Supporting and guiding Junior Electricians, technicians and apprentices in safe working practices and technical procedures
• Maintaining accurate records of inspections, maintenance, repairs and completed work
• Updating job cards and maintenance tasks accurately within the hotel’s maintenance management systems
• Maintaining tools, equipment and electrical work areas to a professional and safe standard
• Supporting the Maintenance Department with emergency and operational requirements when necessary
• Taking accountability for the quality, safety and completion of electrical work performed
