SENIOR BOOKKEEPER

ABOUT THE COMPANY

We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Senior Bookkeeper to join our finance team based in Kuils River.

This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified accounting professional who enjoys working across the full accounting cycle and who is confident managing complex reconciliations, financial reporting, taxation, cash flow and month-end processes.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Financial Accountant and will play an important role in ensuring accurate and efficient financial management across the Group's current and future entities.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As Senior Bookkeeper, you will take ownership of the full bookkeeping and accounting cycle across multiple entities within the Dekro Group.

This is more than a traditional bookkeeping position. The role requires a strong technical accounting foundation, excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple entities, complex reconciliations and demanding month-end and reporting deadlines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the full bookkeeping and accounting cycle across multiple Group entities.
  • Prepare financial reports and process journals.
  • Perform and review bank, petty cash, credit card and debit card reconciliations.
  • Oversee creditor and debtor reconciliations.
  • Manage stock reconciliations, import costing and stock take administration.
  • Process stock-related journals and ensure accurate accounting records.
  • Prepare and submit VAT, EMP201, withholding tax and other SARS compliance requirements.
  • Manage foreign payments and APN applications.
  • Assist with import/export administration and related financial processes.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting.
  • Perform intercompany loan reconciliations.
  • Manage royalty accounting.
  • Assist with payment approvals, beneficiary verification and fraud prevention controls.
  • Prepare management accounts and audit files.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Manage daily cash flow and monitor investment accounts.
  • Provide support and relief to the cashbook, creditors and debtors functions when required.
  • Assist with month-end close and ensure financial information is accurate and submitted within required deadlines.

The position involves responsibility for the financial records, compliance, cash flow management, reconciliations, reporting and month-end processes across the Group.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • BCom Accounting or Advanced Diploma in Accounting
  • Minimum 5 years' bookkeeping experience
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Valid South African ID
  • Experience working with multiple entities would be advantageous
