Key Roles and Responsibilities

Project Financial Administration

  • Assist with project setup, maintenance, and project close-out activities.
  • Maintain accurate project and financial records.
  • Support Finance with ad hoc projects and process improvement initiatives.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Assist in updating project budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor project financial performance against budgets.
  • Support project financial planning activities.

Revenue, Costs and WIP Management

  • Assist in monitoring project revenue, costs, invoicing, and Work in Progress (WIP).
  • Prepare WIP schedules and project financial reports.
  • Support the monthly revenue recognition process.
  • Assist in identifying financial variances and outstanding invoices.
  • Help monitor project profitability and performance.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare financial reports, schedules, and analyses using Excel.
  • Support monthly project reporting and variance analysis.
  • Assist with identifying incorrectly allocated costs and timesheet postings.
  • Analyse project financial data and highlight potential issues.

Audit Support

  • Assist with audit preparation activities.
  • Gather and provide supporting documentation for audits.
  • Ensure financial records are accurate and audit-ready.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Qualification

  • Studying towards or recently completed a:
    • Diploma in Accounting
    • Finance
    • Financial Management
    • Management Accounting
    • Or a related qualification

Experience

  • 1-2 years of experience in a project-related environment.
  • Exposure to project finance, accounting, or financial administration would be advantageous.

Skills and Knowledge

Financial Knowledge

  • Basic understanding of:
    • Project finance
    • Budgeting and forecasting
    • Revenue and cost analysis
    • Work in Progress (WIP)
    • Invoicing processes
    • Revenue recognition
    • Project profitability

Technical Skills

  • Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to prepare financial reports and schedules.
  • Willingness to learn ERP and project management systems.
  • Experience with systems such as:
    • Odoo
    • Vantagepoint
    • Similar ERP systems (advantageous)

Analytical Skills

  • Strong numerical ability.
  • Ability to analyse financial data and identify variances.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.

Communication and Administration

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
