Job Title : Assistant Centrifugal Operator

Grade : A3

Reports to : Shift Superintendent

Department : Production

Main purpose of the job

• To ensure continuous sampling as per schedule to avoid discrepancies in lab analytical results
• Be able to determine machinery operational anomalies, and report to supervisor timeously. Constantly check massecuite flow into machines and sugar quality from machines. Ensure pumps are alternated correctly.
• To ensure optimum floc dosage and safe pump operation when syrup clarifier is operational.
• To minimize sugar losses and maximize molasses escape through screens by inspecting screens condition.
• Inspect molasses seals for damage and machinery casing for sugar build up.
• Wash screens and casings periodically.
• To ensure chemicals are always available where needed for operational purposes
• Do any other duties at the request of management within the skills limit.

Qualifications and Experience

• Matric
• 1 – 2 years’ experience in a similar role in a sugar manufacturing environment

Personal Qualities

• Must be a hard worker
• Must possess physical and mental aptitude, good visual and auditory acuity and willing to respond positively to instruction.
