Purpose of the Role

  •  The Sales & Marketing Executive is responsible for leading the Group's Sales & Marketing capability by establishing the strategic direction, enterprise frameworks and commercial standards that drive sustainable revenue growth, market competitiveness, profitability and long-term value creation across South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Botswana.
  • The role owns the Group's Sales & Marketing portfolio, establishing enterprise-wide strategy, governance and capability across commercial strategy, go-to-market, route-to-consumer, the Accessibility Model, sales excellence, brand management, portfolio optimisation, pricing, revenue growth management, innovation and market development to deliver consistent commercial execution and sustainable business performance.
  • The role provides strategic commercial leadership and trusted counsel to the Chief Commercial Officer, Executive Committee, Managing Directors and Commercial Leadership Teams by translating market insight, customer intelligence and commercial expertise into strategic decisions that strengthen competitive advantage, accelerate commercial value creation and support the Group's long-term growth ambitions.
  • As the functional leader for Sales & Marketing, the incumbent establishes Group-wide frameworks, governance, capability and professional standards while providing matrix leadership to in-country Commercial teams to drive consistent execution, organisational capability, commercial excellence and the adoption of best practice across the Group

Sales & Marketing Strategy

  • Lead the development and execution of the Group's Sales & Marketing strategy by defining the long-term direction for sales, marketing, customer growth, route-to-consumer and commercial value creation, ensuring alignment with the Group's commercial strategy and sustainable business growth.

Sales Excellence & Route-To-Consumer

  • Develop and govern the Group's sales excellence and route-to-consumer capability by establishing commercial frameworks, operating models and execution standards that maximise market penetration, customer reach and sales effectiveness across all markets.

  • Enable operating companies through scalable distributor, wholesale and last-mile delivery frameworks that optimise market access, commercial execution and customer service.

  • Lead the development of the Group's brand, portfolio and innovation strategy by strengthening brand equity, optimising the product portfolio and delivering commercially viable innovation that supports long-term business growth and customer value.

  • Lead the development and governance of the Group's pricing and revenue growth strategy by establishing enterprise pricing frameworks, commercial value management principles and revenue growth capabilities that maximise profitability, competitiveness and sustainable business growth.

Qualifications & Experience 

 

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Commerce, Business Management, Sales, Economics or a related discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Marketing, Business Management, Commercial Management or a related field.

Advantageous Qualifications

  • MBA or equivalent executive management qualification.
  • Professional registration or relevant Sales, Marketing or Commercial Management certifications.

Essential Experience

  • Minimum of 10–15 years' progressive Sales & Marketing leadership experience, with significant experience in sales, marketing, route-to-consumer, brand management, commercial strategy, revenue growth management or a related commercial discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and leading enterprise-wide Sales & Marketing strategies, including route-to-consumer, sales excellence, brand, portfolio and pricing strategies within a complex organisation.
  • Proven experience in translating market intelligence, customer insights and commercial opportunities into strategies that support sustainable business growth and executive decision-making.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional commercial initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders across multiple business functions to deliver strategic business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing Sales & Marketing teams while driving organisational capability, commercial excellence, continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Experience operating within a multi-site, multi-business or geographically dispersed organisation.
