Position Overview:

A IZI Secure Regional Training Officer in the security industry manages and conducts specialized occupational training across multiple locations. They ensure all personnel meet strict regulatory mandates—such as PSIRA, SAPS Firearm Competency, First Aid, and Fire Marshal requirements—by assessing needs, facilitating courses, and auditing site compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Training Facilitation: Deliver accredited instruction in firearm handling (Handgun, Shotgun, and Semi-Automatic Rifle), tactical response, and operational readiness.
  • Safety & Emergency Instruction: Conduct First Aid, CPR, and Fire Marshal/firefighting training in alignment with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations.
  • Compliance & Administration: Maintain strict training records, issue Range and Competency certificates, and track legal adherence to the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSiRA) and the Firearms Control Act.
  • Regional Audits & Needs Assessment: Travel across regional branches to evaluate security officer performance, identify knowledge gaps, and run emergency evacuation drills.
  • Weapon Management: Oversee the safe operation of shooting ranges and proper control, storage, and issuing of training firearms.

Requirements and Skills

  • Educational Foundation: Grade 12 (Matric) and a recognized Education, Training, and Development (ETD) or Facilitator/Assessor/Moderator qualification.
  • Firearm Accreditation: Valid SAPS Competency Certificates and Business Purposes Firearm Training. Advanced instructor qualifications (e.g., Range Officer, Tactical Instructor, PFTC accredited) are required.
  • Health & Safety: Valid First Aid (Level 1-3) and Basic Firefighting/Fire Marshal certificates.
  • Regulatory Registration: Active PSiRA registration (Grade B or A).
  • Industry Experience: 3 to 5 years of functional operational and instructional experience in the armed security, tactical, or close protection sectors.

Competencies

  • Expert knowledge of the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000 and OHS standards.
  • Advanced tactical shooting and street survival skills.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license (often Code EB or higher) and willingness to travel extensively within the designated region.
